Nikolay Gryazin is getting ready for Rallye du Var

This weekend Nikolay Gryazin and Yaroslav Fedorov will take part in the legendary Rallye du Var.

ERC U28 champions will cap this season by competing against the leaders of French tarmac championship on various stages near Var. Among 196 entries are quite a few renowned drivers including Yoann Bonato, Bryan Bouffier, Quentin Gilbert, Stephane Sarrazin and even WRC veteran François Delecour.

"Rallye du Var is our season 2018 finale," said Nikolay Gryazin. "We had the chance to compete on tarmac after winning ERC U28 itle, and decided to jump at it. French series was chosen as it still had some events available.

We chose Critérium des Cévennes rally and Rallye du Var. The first was meant to compare our performance against French elite, to see if we measure up. Rallye du Var is a legendary event, French championship finale frequented by Sebastien Loeb. We are willing to make the very best of it, to challenge the strongest, to put up a good fight, to reach the level of Yoann Bonato, Citroën driver. Even though Loeb is not coming this year, we will give this stage our best shot."
Сhallenging rally requires thorough preparations. Critérium des Cévennes rally was preceeded by a short tarmac tests. Then SRT team spent 3 days performing Škoda Fabia R5 set-up tests before sending the car to Var.

"These tests allows to get the feel and brush up on tarmac driving skills, but most importantly find the best car set-up possible," said Nikolay. "For instanse, wet tarmac on Cévennes revealed certain problems with car set-up in this type of conditions.

Unfortunately, the testing prior to Rallye du Var was performed on dry tarmac. It gave us enough time to work on suspension. All in all, we are satisfied with the current set-up for Var."
Nikolay Gryazin has covered 400 km in 3 days of testing. This will be his debut in Rallye du Var. Co-pilot Yaroslav Fedorov had completed this rally back in 2011 with Aleksei Ignatov, which was his debut on tarmac.

Rally will begin on Friday at 16:00. It comprises 14 special stages with total length of 192,06 km.
